Fiberglass: The Versatile Strength of Composite Materials

Fiberglass is a composite material made from very thin glass filaments combined with specific resins. The result is a lightweight yet super-strong material, capable of performing where other materials begin to fail.

Corrosion Resistance

One of its superpowers. Fiberglass resists aggressive chemicals, humidity, salt, and extreme environments. In many industrial contexts, it is the only truly reliable solution for the long term.

Unbeatable Strength-to-Weight Ratio

At equal strength, steel weighs up to seven times more and aluminum about twice as much. This makes fiberglass perfect for applications where weight, transport, and installation make the difference. Less structural load, fewer reinforcements, fewer complications.

Where is Fiberglass Used? A Cross-Industry Essential

Fiberglass is a high-impact material utilized across diverse sectors where traditional materials often fail. Its unique properties—specifically corrosion resistance, non-conductivity, and anti-slip safety—make it indispensable in the following environments:

  • Corrosive & Chemical Environments: Essential in the Chemical, Metallurgy, and Mining industries, where it withstands aggressive chemical agents and electrolytic refining processes.

  • Moisture & Saline Settings: Widely used in Ports, Marinas, and Car Washes due to its immunity to rust, salt, and constant water exposure.

  • Food & Beverage Production: Applied in bottling lines and meat processing plants for its ability to resist organic corrosion (like blood) while providing hygienic, anti-slip surfaces.

  • Energy & Manufacturing: A top choice for Power Plants due to its electrical insulation, and for manufacturing hubs where oil-slicked floors require high-traction safety gratings.

  • Specialized Infrastructure: Supports structures in Aquariums and Fish Farms by preventing algae buildup and ensuring proper water circulation.

FIBERGLASS

From Bushing to Palletization

We provide comprehensive, end-to-end automation systems for the fiberglass industry, managing the entire production flow from the initial bushing phase to final shipping.

Key Features & Smart Operations:

  • Seamless Integration: Upon receiving the “Cakes Ready” signal, the Doffer Robot automatically positions itself at the winder to begin the cycle.

  • Precision Handling: Using a specialized telescopic cradle, the robot extracts cakes rapidly and places them onto carriers or overhead trolleys safely.

  • Integrated Quality Control: The system performs real-time weighing and dimensional checks to ensure every cake meets strict quality standards.

  • Full Automation Suite: Beyond extraction, our robots handle the automatic cutting of the fiber tail and the precise insertion of paper sleeves onto the winder mandrels.

FIBERGLASS

Rewinding Area

The Assembled Roving production takes place within the rewinding area. Here, multiple glass fiber strands from the cakes are gathered and wound together to form the final assembled roving.

The winders can be fed through either manual or automatic configurations.

Palletizing and Pallet Packaging Area

Certain facilities require special packaging configurations, where bobbins are interconnected and arranged according to custom layouts.

In these instances, it is possible to integrate specific devices to assist the operator with row positioning or by utilizing dedicated workstations.

Palletization can be performed using an assisted lifter, equipped with an internal expansion gripping device.

Bobbin Packaging area

For direct roving, packaging is performed using a cold-wrap process with tension-free film.

For assembled roving bobbins, our specialized robots can automatically perform the doffing, yarn restarting, and final packaging of the bobbins.
